Our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
We envision the Office of the Auditor General of British Columbia as an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organization where everyone is safe, supported, and able to thrive.
Our investment in equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is key to achieving this vision.
Research shows that workplaces that invest in EDI have many advantages, including:
• Higher productivity and efficiency
• Improved creativity, innovation and ability to solve problems
• Increased retention and stronger relationships with colleagues and external partners
Investing in EDI is also just the right thing to do.
In the past several years, our office has taken significant steps to build a healthy, inclusive, and accessible workplace.
These include:
• Appointing the deputy auditor general as EDI Lead to ensure leadership and accountability at the executive level
• Developing an EDI strategy that is unique to our office and aims to strengthen our policies, practices, and community
• Appointing a member of our leadership team to lead on EDI strategy implementation
• Developing an accessibility plan that aims to remove systemic barriers and enable everyone to engage with our office
• Investing in training on psychological safety, recognizing unconscious bias, fostering inclusive workplaces, and mental health first aid
We’re thankful to our staff for contributing whole-heartedly to building an inclusive and welcoming community.
Creating an equitable, diverse and inclusive workplace takes leadership at every level and we’re proud to be taking this journey together.
