B.C. Public Sector Boards: Oversight of the Appointment Process

Government oversees the process to appoint members to the boards of about 230 public sector organizations.

Each organization has a board to ensure the appropriate use of resources, and that the organization serves the public interest. There are about 2,000 public sector board members who are appointed by government.

Our audit looked at what the Crown Agencies and Board Resourcing Office, or “CABRO,” did to fill board vacancies in a timely manner. We looked at how CABRO ensured boards identified their needs (for example, for members with financial expertise or from different regions).
